Recently Climate Community winner Team Marine from Santa Monica High was awarded an Ocean Hero Award on Ocean’s Day in Sacromento for all of their outstanding, and exemplary ocean conservation work they do among other crucial environmental issues facing us. I had the opportunity to go with them to lobby for California Assembly Bills that support ocean conservation, like AB 925 to leash plastic bottle caps to the bottles and attend the reception where they were presented their award. Felt pretty honored to be a part of that night. For more information about them, here is their blog about the event, and/or visit their website.
Also – they have made a 14 min. documentry titled, “The 10 R’s” – IT IS A MUST SEE, here’s the link
Just a few days ago, I found out that The Daily Ocean is nominated for an Ocean Hero Award from Oceana. I was nominated by my friend and local Santa Monica blogger, Siel Ju from green LA girl. Then I sent out the word to friends, family, etc. and well…I got enough nominations to be one of six adults up for the award. Voting closes on May 26th. Please visit Oceana to take a pledge for the ocean, (every pledge will be matched with 1$ to Oceana), and then vote for an Ocean Hero. If it is me, fabulous, but you’ll see that I am in some amazing company. I’m truly humbled to be a part of this.

fantastic! thanks…
