Inconvenient Youth – Great Friends!

Inconvenient Youth: a community of teenagers taking action to solve the climate crisis.

Dear Climate Community,

Allow me to introduce Inconvenient Youth. Inconvenient Youth is an initiative of The Climate Project, which you may know from Dan’s work as a presenter (Thanks to Dan and Allisyn for this opportunity introduce ourselves!). So, let me tell you a little about what we do:

Our goal is to be the best online resource for teens who want to tackle climate change. We plan to do this in three ways. First, our website will be a comprehensive information center which will include resources on the history of climate change, the latest science and current events, how to live green, and a guide to environmental activism. Secondly, we will build a community of peers to provide support and showcase the power of collective action. Teens will have the option to create a profile on our site, which will enable them to connect with other members, and share both the actions they are taking in their own life and their big ideas to change the way we live. Finally, once a month, we will lend our full support to one of those big ideas, and help it become a reality. With the help of the community, which will vote for the best idea, we will select one and make it happen. By providing informational resources, a community of peers, and the support of our team, we hope to empower youth to take environmental leadership roles in their schools and local communities.

But why, you ask? Three reasons:

1) We believe that climate change is a crisis that affects everyone and, because we are all affected, we must all be part of the solution.

2) We believe that as many ideas and actions as possible are necessary to solve the climate crisis.

3) We believe that teens can be leaders in stopping climate change now.

Though currently under construction, our website will be fully functional in early March, so look for another post from us then. In the mean time, please take a look at our landing page at www.inconvenientyouth.org. You can sign up there for an update from us when everything is ready to go. If you are a teenager, or know someone who would be interested in us, please check us out or let them know.

Thanks!

  1. A great step at getting kids involved. I know they want to help — it’s their future.
