The President has had a pretty hard few weeks – and even months.
We have been supporters of his efforts and the “hope” that came to Washington last year. Saddly a lot of that hope and excitement seems to be gone. The fights on Capital Hill are horrible. And the internal White House managemnet of the Presidents priorities seem – confused – at best. We have said (months ago….) that it seemed like a big risk to tackle climate and health care in the same year. Unfortunatly our worst fears have come true. Copenhagen was not a success, and the US has still not passed climate/energy legislation.
If there is one thing to learn from this it is choose the fight – and see it all the way to its conclusion. Do not try to take on several “world changing” issues at the same time. (And – some how keep time for war, terror, a young family, and photo ops….)
It is not an easy job. If this year has done anything it has reminded me that – be it a President Obama, or Bush – the job ain’t easy… and unfortunately our other leaders – those on capital hill – really do not make it easier or better for the country.
Mr. President – solve the climate crisis – drive some form of law that will lead to the US taking charge on green energy and clean tech – do not allow us to follow…help us to us lead!
