As we head towards Copenhagen the US Senate is still not clear that it will debate – let alone pass climate legislation.
In fact the “road to 60 votes…” seems as murky as ever. In the Senate we know that this will not be a party line vote. In some ways this is a good thing – the result will in fact be bi-partisan. The question is will there be enough support to get 60 votes so that a filibuster on the Senate floor can be broken.
The regional nature of the line up is clear. Yes there will be winners and losers if we stop using carbon based fuels – that is not new news. The question is will enough of the Senate vote for what is in the best interest of the Country – and Planet…..
