Congratulations to Wesley Cronk this weeks Climate Community Citizen of the Week.

Wes is yet another amazing young person who we have been so happy to meet – and who is working hard to help the planet.  We met Wes through another of our first winners Alison Erlenbach – founder of CO2U and Campus Climate Solutions.

Wes is a recent graduate of the University of Florida and is the co-founder of a new organization located in NYC named: Social, Environmental, and Economic Concerns (SEEC) Foundation.

Mission Statement

Our Mission and Ideals:

We believe it is our responsibility to provide the community with the knowledge and tools necessary to implement sustainable practices, taking into account Social, Environmental and Economic Concerns.

At the SEEC Foundation, we develop community projects, education programs and business models that effectively address environmental concerns as well as promote social progress and provide economic benefit.

Sustainability is often approached from a narrow, environmental perspective that promotes specific ideals at the expense of overall progress. We are working to debunk the misconception that a sustainable future requires the social and financial sacrifice that is commonly associated with it.

The SEEC Foundation recognizes that the resources needed to implement sustainable practices lack widespread availability and acceptance. To combat this, we use the diverse experience of our experts and to help people interested in making positive change by providing counsel on how small, simple solutions can realize large economic and social benefits

We collaborate with the private sector, non-governmental organizations and other leaders in the sustainability field to help provide the public with the resources needed to implement sustainable business practices and behaviors.

Recently Wes became LEED Certified by the US Green Building Council and is now working on a major energy retrofit project in the Bronx.  The property Executive Towers is being put through and energy system and billing overhaul with the savings being used to add efficient energy elements – lights, motors, drives, and possibly HVAC equipment.  All of these new systems will save the current residents – money – and energy.  This is exactly the type of effort President Obama is asking from our young people.

In addition to this important work – Wes has been accepted in to NYU for graduate work.  His field of study will be sustainable development – but with flexibility to pull in courses from other disciplines.
Wes – we wish you the very best!  Congratulations again!

  1. Robin says:

I wish more people would realize that with only a few changes they could save money and energy. Protecting the environment doesn’t have to “put you out” or take away from your quality of living. I’m optimistic that this generation of post grads have the passion to relay that message and encourage us all to move closer to the goal of a “greener” planet. Go Wesley!
