Climate Community Citizen of the Week Award – Rick Herron

Congratulations to Rick Herron our Climate Community Citizen of the week!

We met Rick through our friends at The Climate Project - The Climate Project (TCP) is an international non-profit founded by Nobel Laureate and former Vice President Al Gore with a mission to increase public awareness of the climate crisis at a grassroots level worldwide. It is through this organization that some 2,500 people around the globe have been trained to help share the message regarding awareness of the challenges we face due to Climate Change.

Rick is one of a select group of young people (having just graduated High School this spring) who have been through this training and actively present to various audiences.  Rick has made presentations to a wide variety of organizations – and in doing so he helps to inspire others – both young and old to take action.

It is worth mentioning that Rick is an Eagle Scout – the second Eagle Scout to be one of our winners – and clearly an indication of the important role Scouts – and in particular the select group who go on to Eagle play in our communities.

Rick grew up in Dresden, Tennessee a town of 2,500 people – as a part of his Eagle Scout project Rick wrote a brochure entitled “Being Green and Saving Green in Weakley County” with tips on how to reduce your carbon footprint and go green.

This fall Rick will be off to College at Yale where he intends to continue his work of Climate Education.

We wish Rick all the best – and again – Congratulations!
